ACS Egham recently played host to music students from seven schools across the UK for the schools inaugural Young Inspirations music concert on the 21st January.

Stand out students from ACS Egham, the Yehudi Menuhin School for Musical Excellence, Ascot Heath Junior, Ranelagh School, Papplewick School, Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School, Westminster School and the Royal Academy of Music were brought together to perform to the public.

The concert commenced with a six hand piano performance from Egham students Daria Geller, Lukas Juen and Anika Juen. This was followed by solo and duet performances from students using a variety of instruments including piano, violin and cello.

Set up by Irina Walters, Head of Music at ACS Egham, the concert is designed to showcase and celebrate the talents of the students. With exceptionally talented students from a range of schools, the concert offered an inspirational environment to perform and interact with their peers.

Although everyone involved delivered high quality performances, 14 year old Elvina Auh and 11 year old Harvey Lin particularly shone through. Elivina, from the Yehudi Menuhin School, performed a complex violin recital with incredible vigor and passion ahead of her entry into the international Yehudi Menuhin Competition in Austin, Texas, USA in February. Similarly, Papplewick pianist Harvey Lin performed an extensive programme as he prepares to enter the 5th Chopin International Piano Competition in Hartford, Connecticut, USA.

Irina commented: The concert was a huge success with all of the schools setting an exceptionally high standard. The performances were inspirational, creating a great atmosphere which encouraged the students to perform to the very best of their ability.

Egham representative, Lukas Juen, went on to comment:

The concert was an incredible experience that allowed me to meet some of the most talented young musicians out there. I was so proud to be part of it and really enjoyed performing to the sold out audience.
