Pupils from Dauntsey's School staged Stephen Sondheim's much loved and award- winning musical Into the Woods, a show in which several classical fairy tale characters learn the hard way that 'happily ever after' is not always so happy after all.

Over five nights, an energetic and dedicated cast of 25 presented a stylish and convincing interpretation of this demanding musical, supported by a fine orchestra and back-stage crew. Interestingly presented 'in the round' with seats arranged on all four sides of the stage, the audience was drawn into the action and almost became part of the performance.

Rikki Jackson, head of drama, said:

'When it comes to drama, Dauntsey's is unique, not only for the range and quality of our performing arts but also because we keep standards so high while offering opportunities for all our pupils, not only those with the talent and ambition to pursue a career in this most competitive of fields. Our production of Into the Woods is one of the highlights of the year and staging the show 'in the round' was a challenge but proved to be very effective and was a unique experience for our pupils.'
