The means tested scholarship funds 100% of tuition fees for the two-year IB Diploma programme as well as providing assistance for other associated costs.

Commenting on the new scholarship Linda LaPine Head of ACS Hillingdon said We have a long history of our students achieving outstanding IB Diploma results and entering leading universities and I am delighted that the ACS Foundation is now funding this new scholarship award for an academically outstanding local pupil.

LaPine added The selected pupil will join our school, which already includes local students within our diverse international community. This scholarship represents a wonderful opportunity for one young person

Closing date for applications for the 2014/2015 academic year is the 28th March 2014.

The ACS Foundation has launched its IB Diploma Scholarship for an academically outstanding student, who is expected to achieve at least five Grade As at GCSE, and wishes to further their academic success and broaden their horizons.

The IB Diploma programme is an internationally renowned entrance qualification to universities in the UK, Europe and around the world. In the University Admission Officers Report 2013, twice as many UK university admissions officers cited the IB Diploma over A-Levels, as the best preparation for students to thrive at university.

To earn an IB Diploma students are required to study six subjects: a literature course in the students native language, one additional language, maths, experimental sciences, social sciences, and one arts or another subject from science, humanities or languages.

The IB develops students who are enquiring, knowledge and caring young people through a raft of extra-curricular activities including Theory of Knowledge classes, a 4000 word extended essay and the Creativity, Action and Service work.
