Brentwood School's U13a netball team have been crowned national champions taking top honours in a fiercely competitive competition.
The Brentwood side secured the national titlewhen they defeated the previously unbeaten Guildford High School team 45-33 in the competition's final at the University of Bath.

Team Coach Mrs Wendy Juniper said: 'It's been a very tough competition. We were knocked out of the ISNC (Independent Schools' Netball Cup) national semi-finals earlier in the month but this only spurred us on to want the national cup even more.'

'It's been a long process and it's finally completed, the girls were amazing and should feel so proud of their magnificent achievement.'
The first game of the inaugural School Sports Magazine National Schools' U13 Netball Cup competition was in October last year and over a period of six months, over 120 schools fiercely competed for the national title.

The winning team consisted of: Athena Knight (Captain), Lily Spencer Smith, Connie Bell, Lucy Wilde, Lucie Patchett, Ashley Chalmers, Holly Perry, Zara Smalley, Emelia Clark, Anna Reeves, Skye Lynch and Megan Lee.

Mrs Juniper added: 'The girls had skill, commitment, dedication, will power, strength, hard work, focus and they all got along so well with each other, and as a team, this is so important. It's been a tough competition with very few easy games throughout and for girls of their age group to play over 60-minute games is just another example of how hard they have worked. '

Schools are already being invited to the 2014/2015 competition with the first knockout games scheduled for September. The competition is open to all state and independent schools in England and Wales and will run throughout the 2014 Autumn term and into the 2015 Spring term until the finals in March.
