100 iPad Wall : 'I need a bigger screen!'

ACS Hillingdons Advanced Technology Club set itself a two-step challenge, to break a world record and to make a video of their project go viral, so the 100 iPad Wall was born.

Eight students worked on the project over the last few months trying out the feasibility of linking up 100 iPads to make a giant screen. There were several challenges including ensuring all the devices could communicate over the wifi in a confined space and achieve perfect timing.
The clubs last project was to embed a first generation iPad into the case of a vintage Mac classic, so after working so closely with an iPads tiny screen, they felt the need to go much bigger.

At ACS Hillingdon, tablets are set to automatically lock unless physically touched. It required the team to physically touch each and every iPad every ten minutes in what looked like a giant game of Twister in order to keep the iPad wall active. The 100 iPad wall was then demonstrated to classes in Lower School as a thank you for borrowing their tablets.

The Advanced Technology Club filmed its endeavors in an attempt to make a viral video. You can view the video via the QR code (above) or on the YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqnBInslhos
