Heathfield Launches Innovative School Video and New Website

LEADING girls� school Heathfield in Ascot has launched an innovative school video as part of a new website which went live this week: www.heathfieldschool.net.

The video - set entirely to a music soundtrack - aims to provide a snapshot of the emotional experience of life at Heathfield rather than provide a more typical short documentary of the kind many schools feature in their school videos.

The video�s clever use of iconography, using such symbols as those from the Periodic Table, Mathematics, Music and languages, is set against the backdrop of a fast moving film featuring Heathfield girls showcasing life at the full boarding school in Berkshire.

It was masterminded by The Web TV Company, part of ISQ International Education Consultants. Creative Director Chris Mugford, who has worked with clients including IBM, Barclays Bank, Pepsico and Diageo, brought in award-winning photographers Mike Garrard, Gary Italiaander and Andy Butcher as cameramen. Andy, who has worked with Ridley Scott and other top directors on feature films requiring equine expertise, was brought in to shoot footage of polo ponies at Heathfield.

The new school video, which premiered this week, acts as the home page for Heathfield�s new picture-led website.
On the practical side, the new site boasts full tablet and phone compatibility as well as being compatible with all desktop PCs. Built using WordPress tools by creative web agency Buffalozoomedia, it promises easy navigation no matter what device is used, and rapid access to the information that prospective girls and parents as well as current girls and parents need from the school. Easy and transparent links to social media form a key part of the new web design.

ISQ Creative Director Chris Mugford said: �We were briefed to �break the mould� of school videos for Heathfield. Our film makes no attempt to show every aspect of the school�s curriculum but instead presents an emotional message to prospective parents through a montage of much more surreal and abstract images.

�It shows the fully-rounded education that girls can expect, together with the sense of achievement, confidence and pure enjoyment that has marked out every generation of Heathfield girls.�

Director of IT at Heathfield School Martin Taylor said: �The video is the jewel in the crown of a new website which is ingenious in its simplicity while providing all the practical information required in a school website. As the premier marketing tool for a school, we believe the new site is easily accessible to today�s mobile users and really does reflect the ethos and culture of life at Heathfield.�
