ACS Hillingdon Students Travel to Germany For Theatrical Festival

Published Tuesday 20th of May 2014 05:03:14 PM

Fourteen students from ACS Hillingdon recently travelled to Dusseldorf, Germany, to take part in the International Schools Theatre Association (ISTA) Middle School Drama Festival.

ISTA is a charitable arts organisation that works with a range of international schools from around the world, uniting students of all ages through the medium of theatre and the arts. With a core focus on collaborative performance, ISTA aims to develop creative learning and promote diversity and friendship between schools and colleges.

Whilst taking part in the Middle School Festival, ACS Hillingdon students aged 11 to 16 joined six other international schools from around Europe. Following a variety of workshops the students took to the stage for the penultimate performance, silently acting out legends and tales through the use of movement, clowning, mime and physical theatre.

As well as taking part in the Middle School Festival, the students also experienced the culture of Dusseldorf through a river cruise and a tour of the historical city centre.

Allan Bruce, ACS Hillingdon drama teacher and trip leader, commented:

It was good to see the students interacting and work with peers from around Europe. Working within such a diverse and interesting environment really seemed to bring the best out of the students, which was evident by the outstanding performance they delivered.
