Over 130 students from ACS Cobham International School, aged 17 to 18, recently celebrated the achievements of their final year at the schools annual graduation ceremony.

Attended by over 300 parents, teachers and friends, the ceremony marked the end of the students time at the school having recently completed their High School Diplomas, studying either the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBDP) or the Advanced Placement (AP).

The IBDP is an internationally recognised qualification that will allow the graduates to apply to universities around the world, while the Advanced Placement is a rigorous programme that enables students to gain valuable credits at universities in North America.

A highlight of this years ceremony came from students, Lauren Berg and Yousif Salih, who were elected by fellow classmates to deliver a speech on their behalf. The students addresses included a touching thank you to the staff of ACS Cobham followed by amusing recounts of their experiences. These speeches were then concluded by Yousif who recited the poignant Dr Seuss quote, Dont cry because its over, smile because it happened.

As well as student speeches, ACS Cobham also welcomed guest speaker and England rugby player, Ugo Monye. Presenting on a variety of inspirational topics, Monye spoke to the audience about his own career and the importance of hard work in achieving goals.

High School Principal, Chris Walker, commented on the ceremony:

Its always one of the highlights of the year to see our Grade 12 students graduate. After putting in so much work and dedication its very satisfying to see the students come together to celebrate their achievements. Well done to all the graduates and thank you to all the staff, parents and Ugo Monye for delivering such an excellent ceremony. We wish all our graduates every success in the future and hope the lessons learnt and friendships made at ACS will serve them well.
