Sherborne Girls on South Africa hockey tour

Most students will be relaxing over the summer holidays, but at Sherborne Girls, a group of 17 girls aged 15 to 17 are travelling to South Africa at the end of July for a hockey tour of a life time.

Over a fortnight, the girls will be playing six matches against other schools, as well as one match against a local township club from Langa Township.

They will visit Cape Town, Johannesburg and White River as part of their tour, before taking in three days of 'rest and relaxation' at Kruger National Park.

Hockey coach James Brooker said, "The itinerary is packed with cultural diversions and the girls will come home with a true flavour of South Africa past and present. The girls are, for the most part, hosted by families which adds to the cultural understanding, and we're hoping that they gain some valuable playing experience from the matches we have lined up."
