May 18th saw Thorpe House School celebrate a double anniversary as it marked not only 90 years since the school opened its doors the academic year of 1923/24, but also 50 years since the Pre Prep, formerly known as Kingscote was opened by Maurice Averill in September 1964.

To mark this momentous occasion the school hosted an anniversary day for former Heads, members of staff, past and present Governors and former pupils and their parents. The event opened with visitors being given a tour of the school buildings to see how they had changed over the years. They were then invited to take part in a celebratory service led by Rev. Neil Bryson (also a former member of staff) at All Saints Church next to the school. Guests enjoyed a picnic lunch in the school grounds before watching/taking part in a current boys and staff versus old boys cricket match.

Headmaster Anthony Lock oversaw the proceedings:

We were very excited about our anniversary event as it not only marked 90 years of Thorpe House School and 50 years of Kingscote, but it also created the opportunity to reunite old and present members of staff, governors and pupils. I enjoyed welcoming back four out of the surviving six former heads of the two schools and I the Old Boys cricket match was definitely the biggest attraction on the day. This was a great opportunity to reminisce and catch-up with those we hadn't seen for many years!
