Pupils at Abbot's Hill School, in Hemel Hempstead, have celebrated another excellent set of GCSE results. Abbot's Hill girls achieved a 100% pass rate, with 95.9% of grades at A*-C, compared with the national average of 68.6%.

58% of all grades at were at A*-A, an increase of 3.5 percentage points on last year, compared with the national average of 21.3%, which has remained unchanged from 2013. 24.4% of all Abbot's Hill results were at A*, again an increase from 2013 (20.6%) in comparison to a small national drop to 6.7%. The pass rate at A*-C, including Maths and English, was 96%. Ten girls (20%) passed all subjects with an A*/A and 16 girls (31% - almost a third of the cohort) achieved at least nine passes at A*/A.

These results continue Abbot's Hill outstanding record of GCSE success over many years and the rise in the top grades is particularly impressive, given the much publicised changes to make the examination system more demanding, which pupils and teachers have had to respond to at short notice in some cases.

Headmistress Elizabeth Thomas said, 'These fantastic results are a testament to the hard work and commitment of both pupils and staff. We are delighted that they will enable the girls to take up places at a number of leading schools and Sixth Form colleges and we wish them every happiness and success in the future.

Whilst preparing our pupils effectively for examination success is important, we strongly believe at Abbot's Hill that education is about so much more. This is reflected in the enthusiasm with which our Year 11 girls have embraced the many opportunities available to them to play their part in the wider life of the School through sport, music, drama and other extra-curricular activities, the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme, leadership roles and service to others. Abbot's Hill girls know how to strike the right balance and they leave here extremely well prepared for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.'

We are very proud of all our pupils' results but particular congratulations go to:
