ACS Hillingdon students study the ecology of Surrey

Published Tuesday 23rd of September 2014 04:36:06 PM

Students from ACS Hillingdon, aged 17-18 years old, recently travelled to the North Downs, Surrey, for a three-day trip to Juniper Hall, a 17th century National Trust property that serves as a residential centre for students studying the local area.

During the trip, students spent time studying grasslands and river systems, specifically measuring the abiotic factors and type of species living in these environments. Developing their practical skills, students used Juniper Halls specialist teaching facilities to analyse their findings which contributed towards their International Baccalaureate (IB) science coursework.

Dr. Neelu Sharma, ACS Hillingdon teacher and trip leader, commented:

After so much theoretical study, its great to see the students apply their knowledge and surveying techniques in real life situation. Now that the students have developed some strong case studies, they should be well equipped to excel in the rest of the module.
