Ranulph Fiennes to talk at Prior's Field

Tickets are available, from Prior's Field School, to hear Sir Ranulph Fiennes OBE talk of his life and polar explorations. Sir Ranulph will be visiting the school for girls, aged 11 to 18, on Thursday 27 November to deliver its annual Huxley lecture, in memory of founder Julia Huxley.

Doors will open at 7pm and the talk will start at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £14 and can be bought via the school's online box office at

Described by the Guinness Book of Records as the "world's greatest living explorer", Sir Ranulph Fiennes has led 22 major expeditions to remote regions all over the world. He was the first explorer to cross the Antarctic unsupported and, in 2009, aged 65, he climbed to the summit of Mount Everest, the oldest Briton to do so.

Sir Ranulph's lecture is the latest in a series of Prior's Field Culture events, always open to the wider community, that have included writers Joanna Trollope, Germaine Greer, Kate Mosse, Stella Rimington and Michael Palin. The school's next open day is on Saturday 7 February 2015, 10am to 1pm.
