Pupils at Badminton Junior School in Westbury-on-Trym were raising money for The Children's Hospice South West by holding a fashion show today, Friday 4th March 2011, based on a recycling theme.

Girls, aged 3 to 11 years, had been designing costumes using a variety of recycled materials including plastic bags, newspaper, bottle tops, old clothes and packaging. Influences for their designs ranged from Lady Gaga and Katy Perry to fairytale princesses and model, Kate Moss!

The 'Trashion Show', as it has been named, was compered by Heart FM presenter, Paulina Gillespie from the Bush, Troy and Paulina Morning Show and attracted over 250 people.

All the music and laser lighting was kindly donated by Steve Burley of The Disco Company, Bristol Central Pronto print donated the printing costs for tickets and posters and Waitrose gave a magnum of champagne as a the main raffle prize. Many of the parents at the school made canapés to help make the evening go with a swing.

The Children's Hospice South West also took an assembly at Badminton Junior School to talk to the children about the charity and attended on the night at the event.

Said Head of the Junior School, Emma Davies: 'The Trashion Show has been a very exciting event that has helped raise much needed funds and awareness of the wonderful work of the Children's Hospice - one of Bristol's major, local charities. The girls and their parents really went to town on making some fantastic costumes and the creativity has been astounding. We have a very strong community here at Badminton and our parents are really supportive of the school and have gone out of their way to help organise the show and make it a memorable occasion.'
