ACS Cobham stages whole school choral concert

Published Monday 16th of February 2015 11:55:49 AM

Over 100 students recently took to the stage at ACS Cobham International School for the whole school choral concert, performing to parents, teachers and fellow students.

The students, aged 8 to 18, are involved with the various choir groups within the school. The programme included numbers from the Middle School Bel Canto, the High School Singers, the Lower School Choir Club, and the choirs from Grades 6, 7, and 8 combined for their pieces.

The concert incorporated a number of choral styles into the programme. The evening began and ended with an atmospheric mass work, with other seasonal numbers such as In the Bleak Midwinter featuring in the programme. The High School Singers performed something a little more unconventional: choral renditions of 70s Disco.

All of the schools singers took to the stage together to perform Gary Barlow and Andrew Lloyd Webers Sing, as well as You Raise Me Up.

The concert is a bi-annual tradition at the school, alternating with the spring concert, which combines choral and instrumental performances. The concerts aim to give students the opportunity to showcase their musical talents to parents, teachers and friends.

Zoe Lees, Head of Music at ACS Cobham, commented:
Its fantastic seeing all the age groups sing on stage together in the collaborative pieces. The mass works are particularly impressive theyre really spine tingling and were so impressed with the hard work from everyone involved.
