Sixty ACS Egham students aged 15-16 years had the opportunity to hear from five of Britain's top scientists at Science Live, at the Dominion Theatre in London.

Science Live was a day of science talks specifically aimed at inspiring and enthusing students. The five scientists were chosen not only for their scientific prowess but also for their ability to communicate with students of this age group in a direct and exciting way.

Speakers included: Professor Lord Robert Winston, medical doctor and distinguished scientist; Dr Andreas Sella, a writer and broadcaster on public science; Professor Steve Jones, a leading research geneticist; Maggie Aderin-Pocock, a space scientist and presenter of 'The Sky at Night'; and Jim Al Khalili, professor of physics at Surrey university and well known TV presenter.

Philip McAvoy, Science Teacher at ACS Egham, explained:

'This was an inspiring day for students hoping to pursue a career in Science, and a unique opportunity to hear directly from some of the greatest minds in Britain. Students had the chance to raise issues with the speakers and interact with them; it was a unique opportunity which the students embraced.'
