Published Friday 15th of May 2015 11:03:08 AM

The Unicorn School is delighted to welcome Andrew Day, who joins the School as Head Teacher this term. Under Andrew Days leadership The Unicorn School will be undergoing ground breaking developments, becoming the only dyslexia-specialist day school in Oxfordshire to provide GCSE education. Developments will start immediately, with Year 9 provision starting this year and GCSEs introduced from September 2016.

Andrew Day joins the school from Calder House School, where he has served as Head Teacher since 2008. He has extensive experience in education provision for children with dyslexia and associated learning difficulties, and is tremendously excited to be joining The Unicorn School. In his own words:

The Unicorn School offers a whole-school approach to specialist education one which delivers a carefully structured programme of one-to-one support, tailored to meet each child's individual needs, within a normal school environment and classroom teaching.

We offer friendly, non-competitive education in which children with dyslexia and other specific learning/language difficulties are encouraged to enjoy school, gain confidence and develop the skills they need to successfully reach their potential.

Countless children feel stranded in mainstreams schools. For these children The Unicorn School can make a real difference. Andrew Day, Head Teacher.

Married to Helen, and with two daughters, Andrew has made his home in Abingdon. Outside school Andrews main passion is Rugby. He has represented Cotham Park in Bristol over 500 times and has also represented London Welsh RFC. He also loves the great outdoors and has enjoyed numerous skiing and hiking trips to Europe and to the USA.
The Unicorn School has a proven record of excellence in dyslexia-specialist teaching, and with Andrew Day as its Head, will lead specialist education provision within Oxfordshire to new heights.
