Graduation celebration at ACS Cobham

Published Wednesday 1st of July 2015 04:32:56 PM

Students from ACS Cobham International School celebrated the end of an era at their graduation ceremony, attended by approximately 800 well-wishers, including family members, teachers and friends. The 166 students, aged 17-18 years, have just finished studying for their pre-university qualifications. Students studied either the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, an internationally recognised qualification that will allow them to continue their studies at universities worldwide, or Advanced Placement courses, which are highly regarded by universities in North America. Christopher Walker, High School Principal, commented: “Graduation is a wonderful celebration of achievement and the class of 2015 have so much to be proud of. The ceremony was touching and inspiring and will be remembered for years to come.” The inspirational guest speaker at the graduation ceremony was Tsitsi Masiyiwa, joint founder of the Higher Life Foundation, which is an organisation that focuses on education, healthcare and pastoral care in African communities. Tsitsi’s speech addressed the topics of education and empowerment. Student speakers included Strahan Weir and Lucas Jacobs. Lucas commented: “It was an honour to speak at the graduation ceremony. I have been inspired by teachers and peers while at ACS Cobham and will always remember my time here.”
