Hillingdon students celebrate IB results

Published Thursday 9th of July 2015 02:49:11 PM

ACS Hillingdon students have this week received their final IB Diploma results with nearly 20 per cent achieving 40 points or above, worth over 600 UCAS points. To put this into perspective, five A* grades at A-level are worth 560 UCAS points. Over half of students achieved a grade six or seven, the equivalent of grades A and A* at A-Level, in individual IB subject components and one fifth of students were awarded bilingual diplomas in languages include French, Italian and Mandarin. Mr Chris Green, IB Diploma Co-ordinator at ACS Hillingdon, commented: ‘The class of 2015 should be incredibly proud of their success – by completing the IB Diploma, a world-renowned qualification, they have opened the door to so many possibilities, and are fully equipped to take on any challenges that may come their way.’ Many of the graduating students from ACS Hillingdon will be going on to study at leading universities around the world. ACS International Schools recently published the results of research which revealed that UK admissions officers rated the IB Diploma Programme over A-levels and Scottish Highers as the best preparation to thrive at university. University skills best provided by the IB Diploma Programme include encouraging independent enquiry, cited by 87 per cent of admissions officers; self-management skills, 76 per cent and an ability to cope with pressure, 72 per cent. Chris Green added: ‘As a long established IB World School offering the IB Diploma we are confident in knowing that we continue to provide the very best university preparation for our students’.
