The ACS Hillingdon Lower School Student Council, run by students aged 9-10 years, has been awarded the International Student Award, presented by the Council of International Schools, for the third consecutive year. The award recognises the students’ work promoting global citizenship and international awareness, and has been awarded to ACS Hillingdon for the third consecutive year. The student council officers work with their fellow students in younger years to plan fundraising projects such as Spirit Week, where staff and students dressed up to support two organisations, Comic Relief and The Wildlife Aid Foundation. Students also raised funds for those affected by the recent earthquake in Nepal. They created a display of the Nepal flag and students and staff were encouraged to wear the colors of the flag to school to show support. Each time students made a donation they placed a paper cut-out person on the Nepal flag, to demonstrate how they came together to make a difference. Lower school student council advisor, Lauren Seaberg, said: “We are thrilled that our students have received the CIS International Student Award this year. Our students have shown a true commitment to global citizenship and are always looking for a way to help others both near and far.”
