Lights, Camera, Action!

Aspiring film stars, directors, camera operators and screenwriters recently showcased their talents at ACS Cobham International School, organising a film premiere as part of a summer camp. During the five-day course, fifteen students aged eleven to thirteen took to the stage to act in, direct and produce films with the help of two of the school’s specialised teachers. ‘Lights, Camera, Action’ offered sessions on script writing, special effects, camera angles and editing techniques. Students worked with top quality equipment and specialised software with the help of ACS Cobham IT Integrationists to fine-tune their films before the premiere to family and friends at the film festival. Action, comedy and drama all featured at the premiere, as each team made use of special effects, creating animated credits and trailers for their films. Alison Pugh, Activity Camps director, commented: “The showcase at the end of the camp was a testimony to the great imagination and creativity we have seen during the workshops. It’s fantastic to watch the projects coming to life and is an exciting achievement for everyone who took part.” ‘Lights, Camera, Action’ was just one of the many Activity Camps ACS Cobham hosts throughout the summer. The five-day Maker Camp similarly inspired creativity, offering students the opportunity to get involved with designing, building and creating a number of projects. This year, Makers created solar powered vehicles, LED lanterns and robots. Other camps held on ACS Cobham’s 128-acre campus include Early Years and Multi-Activity Camps, as well as the specialist sports camps taking place this week.
