ACS Cobham International School hosted a barbecue to welcome 48 players and coaches from the Namibian Rugby team, who will be using the school and its co-host Cobham Rugby Club as a Team Base during Rugby World Cup 2015. The Namibian High Commissioner, Steve Katjiuanjo, and Minister for Sport, Youth and National Service, Jerry Ekandjo, attended the barbecue along with Cobham Rugby Club officials and ACS Cobham Rugby team members and boarding students. ACS Cobham Project Namibia students also joined in and were able to share tales of their recent work renovating the Kutenhoas Primary School in Berseba of Namibia. ACS Cobham will be working in partnership with Cobham Rugby Club to provide a Team Base for Namibia and Italy during Rugby World Cup 2015. The indoor training facilities include the school’s 25-metre competition-class swimming pool and international-sized basketball/volleyball show court. A premier pitch, clubhouse and gym facilities for outdoor training will be provided by Cobham Rugby Club. Tony Eysele, Head of School at ACS Cobham International School, said, “We were honoured to welcome the Namibian Rugby team to ACS Cobham. Being selected as a Team Base for Rugby World Cup 2015 will bring the event right to the very heart of our school and local community. Having the Rugby players use our campus facilities will truly inspire our students to pursue their own sporting goals.” Wessel Kotze, Namibia Team Manager said: “We had a fantastic night out at ACS Cobham and after a few days of intense preparations it was just what the boys needed. It was also very important for us Namibians to see the wonderful work ACS Cobham does in our country through their Namibia project and it was a timely reminder for our players of the big responsibility of representing our country. The school’s facilities are world-class and we are very grateful to the personnel and pupils for receiving us in such a warm and hospitable fashion.”
