Dauntsey’s welcomes Sir Ranulph Fiennes Dauntsey’s has recently welcomed Sir Ranulph Fiennes as part of its renowned Mercers’ Lecture Series. Talking to a capacity audience of more than 1,000, Sir Ranulph, 71, spoke with great humour and insight about his many explorations over the years. Prior to the lecture, a group of Dauntsey’s Sixth Formers joined Sir Ranulph for dinner. Nathan Sturges was one of the pupils present and reported: “It was great to be able to speak to Sir Ranulph on a one-to-one basis. His tales sounded astounding to all of us and inspiring too. It was a pleasure to have had this opportunity to talk about his action-packed life and to understand more about one of the world's greatest explorers.” The Mercers’ Lectures are named in recognition of the links between Dauntsey’s and the Mercers’ Company, which go back to Mercer founder Alderman William Dauntsey, Master of the Worshipful Company of Mercers, who founded the School in West Lavington in 1542. All lectures commence at 7.30pm and will be held in either the Memorial Hall or the new Pavilion; please check on the School website on the day of the event - www.dauntseys.org Entry is free, but please contact the School if you wish to attend, either by sending an email to info@dauntseys.org or by telephone on 01380 814500.
