ACS Egham International School played host to renowned violinist, Stephen Bryant during a recent solo recital evening. The leader of the BBC Symphony Orchestra, visited ACS Egham to give a recital of four pieces of music including Korngold, Rubbra, Lutoslavsky and De Falla. During the evening Stephen, who recently performed at the revered Last Night of the Proms, was accompanied by pianist Caroline Jaya Ratnam. The recital was attended by a number of school students, including music students studying the International Baccalaureate Diploma. The students had the amazing opportunity to use the performance to form the basis for analysis they will use as part of their coursework. Stephen asked to perform the recital after he was impressed by a Young Inspirations Concert organised by ACS Egham Music teacher, Irina Walters, which he attended earlier this year. Irina said, “It is absolutely phenomenal to have had such a well-respected concert violinist perform at ACS Egham. “I had the great privilege of listening to Stephen Bryant at the Proms and it is incredible to think that the school is now in a list of venues where he has played, alongside prestigious places like the Barbican and Royal Albert Hall.”
