ACS Egham International School, in partnership with AppsEvents, recently hosted the first Google Cloud Camp in London. The Google Cloud Camp explored how the Google Apps for Education tools could be used in the classroom to engage students and support the integration of technology into 21st century learning. Speakers, including Google for Education Certified Innovator and Trainer Ben Rouse, led a series of talks throughout the day, while workshops looked at how to use applications like Google Drive, Gmail and Google Classroom during lessons to create a more interactive and technologically advanced learning experience. The event was organised by AppsEvents in partnership with Cary Hart, ACS Egham Lower School IT Integrationist, due to the high use of technology already being used at the ACS International Schools. Five members of ACS Egham’s Geek Squad, a technology club for students, also attended the event to help during the workshop activities. When describing the use of technology at ACS Egham, Cary said, “All students and grade levels use the Google Apps for Education in some way, from saving images in Pre- Kindergarten, to writing Extended Essays in Grade 12. The teachers regularly share work with students through the students and teachers drive folders. It is an invaluable resources that is used daily at ACS. The Google Cloud Camp has allowed staff to gain more expertise and take their interaction with the Apps to the next level.”
