Over sixty ACS Egham International School students swapped the classroom for the workplace as they joined various businesses for a week of work experience. The students got to learn about work in different sectors including educational, Information Technology, health and fitness, automotive and animal care. The work experience, arranged by ACS Egham in partnership with non-profit organisation, Learning to Work, was very popular with students and gave them the chance to practice their communication, team working and time management skills in a workplace setting. During their placement students undertook a number of work based tasks and learned new skills, such as teaching children, creating databases and communicating with customers. Kristi Sedlacek, ACS Egham IB Career-Related Program Coordinator and Work Experience Co-ordinator, said, “The students had a fantastic week getting a taste of what the working world entails. I am really pleased that the week went well, companies and students alike told me that they found the placements a really positive experience. “A week of work experience is very important for our students and provides numerous benefits, such as, offering insights into future career and study paths.”
