Two budding writers from ACS Cobham International School have been awarded joint winner and runner up in the 14 – 18 category of the Elmbridge Literary Competition 2015. Stephanie Susinski and Iona Fleming from ACS Cobham High School entered the competition earlier this year after writers were invited to submit short stories or poems within the theme of ‘fantasy literature’, celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the publication of 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' and the 60th Anniversary of 'The Lord of the Rings’. 17 year-old Stephanie was crowned joint winner of the 14 – 18 category for her original story 'Values', while Iona, aged 14, was awarded runner-up for her imaginative entry, 'When the Creatures Came'. Stephanie commented on her achievement: “I was thrilled to find out I was joint-winner in my category for the Annual Elmbridge Literary Competition, and I greatly appreciate this opportunity to have taken part.” Iona added: “This was an amazing experience for me and, having never entered a writing competition before, it was a big surprise to be a runner-up.” Presented with their prizes at the award ceremony at Riverhouse Arts Centre, Walton-on-Thames, the writers and guests were also treated to an evening of rehearsed readings of the winning entries by professional actors.
