The bright colours and busy sounds of Turkey provided an inspirational backdrop for High School students from ACS Hillingdon International School during a recent theatre trip. During the three day drama festival, which was run by international theatre organisation ISTA, the twelve students met with other schools from across the globe to learn more about theatre and performance techniques. The students put their team work and acting skills to the test during the many acting and theatre technique workshops led by ISTA theatre experts. Istanbul’s historical Grand Bazaar marketplace provided students with chance to explore to learn more about Turkish culture and gain inspiration for their final workshop performance. Alyssa Ballard, ACS Hillingdon drama teacher and trip co-ordinator, said, “The ISTA festival gave students a wonderful opportunity to explore the theatrical possibilities of bringing the sights, smells, colours and sounds of the environment to life. Istanbul's Grand Bazaar is a melting pot of cultures, diversity and energy and was a great place to learn more about drama studies. “The students had a great time gaining confidence and developing their skills, and learning more about Turkey from their host families.”
