Oakham School’s nationally recognised Chamber Choir gave a concert as part of the Brandenburg Choral Festival, London’s largest and broadest choral festival, in the stunning setting of St Mary-Le-Bow Church in Cheapside. The choir was thrilled to be invited back to perform at this prestigious annual festival, at which they also performed in 2014. The choir, who have recently been selected for the semi-finals of the BBC Songs of Praise School Choir of the Year 2016 competition and the finals of the Barnardo's National Choral Competition, performed a vibrant programme of music by Haydn, Walton, and by contemporary composers including Will Todd and Ēriks Ešenvalds. They also gave the London première of a new arrangement of Arensky’s Three Quartets for four-voice choir and solo cello. The concert was extremely well received by a large audience, who were treated to Daniel Brinsmead’s beautiful arrangement of Amazing Grace as an encore, which they will also perform in the BBC Songs of Praise competition.
