Published Monday 15th of February 2016 10:52:07 AM

A group of students from Hillingdon recently joined over 800 young people attending TEDxTeen 2016 to hear from young inspirational speakers, and consider how to make a positive impact on the world. The 17 to 18-year-olds from ACS Hillingdon International Schools heard from all 10 young activists, entrepreneurs and inventors, as well as enjoying performances from a host of artists, including the highly acclaimed Rudimental. Returning to the O2 Arena in London for the second time, the conference offers a platform for teens to exchange ideas, experiences and advice, engaging in topical issues. This year’s theme was UNTAPPED, with speakers encouraging students to consider their absolute potential. Inspiring the students, the young speakers explored and discussed topics and experiences ranging from food waste to immigration, and technology’s role in public safety to Islam in mainstream fashion. Latifa Hassanali, Programme Manager for ACS Centre for Inspiring Minds, commented: “It was so exciting for our students to be part of such a huge event, which was streamed globally and trending across social media. They left feeling inspired and empowered to make a difference in the world, which is fantastic to see.”
