Sixty budding scientists from ACS Egham attended Science Live in London to hear about the latest advancements being made from five of the UK’s top scientists. The 15 and 16 year old students heard science talks from Professor Lord Robert Winston, medical doctor and distinguished scientist; Dr Andreas Sella, a writer and broadcaster on public science; Dr Kate Lancaster, nuclear fusion power researcher; Prof. Alice Roberts, BBC2 presenter and Prof. Mark Miodownik, engineer and materials scientist, and were encouraged to explore the different areas of science including biology, chemistry, nuclear fusion and self-assembling materials. Philip McAvoy, Science Teacher at ACS Egham, explained: “The day provided new insights for our students who are hoping to pursue a career in Science, and some then had a chance to engage with some truly inspirational speakers.”
