A select group of singers from ACS Cobham’s Middle School choir recently won the ‘School Choir under Year Nine’ category at the 2016 Godalming Music Festival. The ‘Cobham International Festival Choir', 34 singers aged 11 to 13, took part in competing against Handcross Park, Edgeborough, Haslemere Preparatory, King Edward’s, Glebelands and Cranmore schools. The Festival Choir sang Mendelssohn's Lift Thine Eyes and Ola Gjeilo's Tundra at the 15th century Charterhouse School Chapel, scoring 86 points to win their category, and tie for second place overall in the running for the Godalming Operatic Society Cup. Pamela Poust, ACS Cobham Music Teacher, said of the festival: “The Choir should be so proud of their achievements at the Festival. The Charterhouse Chapel is a wonderful venue, and it was amazing to hear the sound of the students’ singing filling the space.”
