Brain Day

Published Wednesday 4th of May 2016 12:21:27 PM

Upper Sixth Biologists and Lower Sixth Psychologists joined forces at the end of March for a ‘Brain Day’. Dr Guy Sutton, of the University of Nottingham Medical School, stretched students way beyond the A-Level curriculum, exploring in detail such areas as the process of memory formation and the workings of neurotransmitters in the human brain. Girls dissected a sheep’s brain, to understand its structure, discussed how neuroscience can explain such conditions as OCD and schizophrenia, and considered whether we really have free will.
