Five middle school students from ACS Egham International School have recently returned from a choir festival in Amsterdam. The three day Middle School Honor Mixed Choir Festival, organised by AMIS (Association for Music in International Schools), was held at the International School of Amsterdam. This year marked the twenty-first anniversary of the Festival, which culminated in a Gala concert. The repertoire included songs such as ‘Rain Dance’ by Karl Jenkins, ‘Valerie’ by Amy Winehouse and ‘Siam Lieti’ by Handel. The ACS students on the trip also had the opportunity to discover the local area; visiting Gouda, the city of cheese in South Holland, the famous tulips at the Keukenhof Gardens, and the artwork in the Van Gogh Museum. Teacher and trip coordinator, Irina Walters, stated, “The children sung their hearts out at the Festival and really expanded their musical skills. They worked very well in collaboration with students from other international schools, and the trip was thoroughly enjoyed by all”.
