ACS Egham’s Lower School students, aged three to 11, recently donned their favourite pyjamas and onesies to raise money for School Autism Awareness Week. The fundraising day was organised by the Lower School Student Council and raised over £130.00 for the National Autistic Society. The charity works with those living with autism and their families to provide support and advice. Rachel Gonin is a Lower School teacher and co-organiser, alongside colleague, Louise Bray, of the Lower School Student Council. Rachel commented on the day: “Our Student Council members did a wonderful job deciding on our charity and themed day. They showed great responsibility by organising this by themselves. Everyone really enjoyed being able to dress up and raise money for such a good cause.” As part of the day’s activities, the older students also learnt more about autism through watching videos and having a group discussion.
