Dauntsey’s Athletics Team has enjoyed a record beating season this year. Highlights include success at the County Athletics Championships in Salisbury with six athletes becoming County Champions and Imogen Dawe-Lane breaking the County record for the 80 metre Hurdles with a time of 11.9 seconds. At the South West Regional Championships which followed, Lower Sixth Former Callum Short won the 400 metre Hurdles which means he has qualified for the National Championships at Gateshead on 8th and 9th July. He will be joined by Imogen Dawe-Lane who has also been selected to represent Wiltshire in the 300 metre Hurdles. Elsewhere, Callum came third in the Senior Boys Octathlon in the English Schools’ Regional Combined Event in Exeter. Third Former Maddie George won the 3 kilometre walk for Boys and Girls in the same competition and will go on to compete in the English Schools Championships in September. Marcus Olsen, Director of Sport, Dauntsey’s, said: “This has been another superb season for athletics for both our boys and girls. We were thrilled to see so many County titles being taken by Dauntsey’s and it is testament to the hard work and training which has gone in during the year. “Special congratulations must go to Callum and Imogen for getting through to the National Championships and Maddie for securing a place in the English Schools Championships - fantastic achievements for them all.” Notes to Editors: With almost 150 acres of grounds, Dauntsey’s has excellent sports facilities including: eight rugby/football pitches, two AstroTurf hockey pitches, seven all-weather netball/tennis courts, an athletics track, a heated sports hall, a newly equipped fitness suite, a heated indoor swimming pool, two squash courts and a newly refurbished sports pavilion.
