Excellent A Level and IB Results

Sherborne Girls is celebrating the announcement of this year’s A Level and IB results, with a 100% pass rate. 70% of students achieved A*-B grades at A Level or IB equivalent and IB students achieved an impressive average point score equivalent to 3 A* grades at A Level. The average UCAS Tariff score per student is 379, equivalent to over 3 A grades at A Level, demonstrating the depth and breadth of education at Sherborne Girls. The majority of students have secured places at their first choice of university; offers include Architecture at Sheffield, Medicine at Cardiff, Arabic and International Relations at Leeds, Biomedical Sciences at Cardiff, Film and Television at Bristol and Music at Sheffield. Jialin Feng topped the year group with 5 A Levels (3 A* grades and 2 As) and has a place to read Biological Sciences with Management at Imperial College London. Other high achievers include Alice Lloyd who scored 2 A* grades and an A and has a place to study Theology & Religion at Durham and Grace Longman, Minnie-Lupin Isles, Georgina St Pier, Candice Wu, Michelle Ma and Alexa Palmer who all achieved 1A* grade and 2 A grades securing them places to read Natural Sciences at Durham (Grace Longman), Medicine at Cardiff (Georgina St Pier), Pharmacy at Nottingham (Candice Wu), Biological Sciences at Imperial College (Michelle Ma), Management at Bath (Alexa Palmer). Georgina Lane scored 3As and has a place to read Liberal Arts at Exeter. Emily Westlake topped the IB results with an impressive point score of 41 (out of a possible 45) putting her in the top 5.1% of IB students worldwide. Kate Hon and Annabel Haswell both achieved 39 points. There was also a fantastic crop of A* and A grades from our Head Girls, securing them their first choice places to read Human BioSciences at Exeter (Lexie Humphrey) and Physiotherapy at King’s College, London (Imogen Andrews). Imogen is currently in Brazil working as a volunteer at the 2016 Rio Olympics! Headmistress Jenny Dwyer said, “We are delighted with our A Level and International Baccalaureate results and the fact that the vast majority of girls have achieved their first choice of university including offers from top Russell Group universities. Our congratulations to everyone, including parents, families and staff, but especially to the girls, who worked so hard and did their very best.”
