St Swithun's Equestrian Excellence

St Swithun's School Year 10 pupil Jessica Gale from Hambledon is a rising star in the field of Dressage, recently being identified as 'one to watch' in the equestrian world.

Jessica is a leading member of the Winchester school's equestrian team, which notably came second in the National Schools Final earlier in the year and where Jessica was placed second overall individually.

At weekends Jessica trains and competes, with her horse Rebellski, against adult riders in the British Dressage competition. Jessica's trainer, South African rider Denise Hellion, commented 'Jess is dedicated and a natural. Explain something new to her and it clicks almost immediately. At competitions, her desire to win is coupled with a very cool head'.

Jessica, who stands at 5ft 5inches has recently acquired a second horse, the 17 hands high Ultra Jazz. Together they won a recent event at Merrist Wood, Guildford and Jessica said 'He's having to adjust to someone with much shorter legs!'. It looks as though this isn't going to hold them back.
