Thirty-seven grade nine students, aged 14-15, recently took part in a week-long, adventure packed trip to Skern Lodge, an activity centre in North Devon. The students joined in a wide range of activities, including abseiling, archery, surfing, kayaking, raft building and high ropes. All of the activities were designed to help students develop crucial life skills, including communication, leadership and problem-solving. Mia Gerrmann, ACS Egham student, said of the trip: “I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Skern Lodge, the variety of activities we did over the week was unbelievable! It really brought us all together as a year group and I’m really excited for what the upcoming school year brings.” Bill Roach, ACS Egham trip leader, commented: “The trip was a fantastic opportunity for students to develop friendships and support each other in different activities. It was lovely to see the students’ self-esteem and confidence develop as the week progressed. I am looking forward to seeing students apply their new skills to their learning.”
