Double Semi’s – here we come!!!

Warwick School’s U15 and U18 rugby teams have both reached their respective semi-finals of the NatWest Schools Cup competition. 1st XV Warwick will play Felsted in the semi-final at Allianz Park in London on Saturday 4 March, after a very tense, tightly contested match against QEGS Wakefield in the quarter-finals. Bromsgrove will be defending their title looking for a third consecutive win, who are drawn against Bishop Wordsworth. Bishop Wordsworth was in the final of the very first U18s final losing against KES Stratford in 1991. Warwick, however have beaten Bromsgrove, earlier this season in a friendly fixture and three of the ‘blue & white’ squad have played for England at U16/U17 level. They also were the winning squad in the U15s against QEGS in 2014. Warwick U18 previous year’s results 2017: qualified for semi-finals by beating last year’s finalists QEGS (13:11) 2016: semi-finalists (lost against QEGS 21:12) 2015: Warwick knocked out by Bromsgrove in the rounds 2014: finalists (Dulwich 53:5) 2013: semi-finalists (lost against Northampton School for boys 13:10) The semi-final is on Saturday 4 March at Allianz Park in London. Kick-off 5.00pm. U15: Warwick is looking to reach a fourth final in five years, having won this age group twice in 2013 and 2014 followed by a defeat to QEGS Wakefield in 2015. There are still other quarter-final matches to be played, which include U15 defending champions Sedbergh who will be looking to defend their title (beating Wellington last year). Other previous winners are also in the mix including Dulwich, Wellington and St Peter’s. Dulwich haven’t won the U15s title since 1995, although have dominated the U18 Cup, winning three titles in a row since 2012. Warwick will play the winners of Dulwich College and Ivybridge College, who are yet to play their quarter-final (due to be played Thursday 9 February).
