Chafyn Grove Year 1 Walk into Salisbury
Published by Chafyn Grove School on Thursday 4th of May 2017
The Year One classes showed lots of energy and enthusiasm on their 'Spotlight on Salisbury' walk, learning about local street names and some historic buildings. We enjoyed a special tour of The Guildhall with Graham Fry, its operations manager. The children enjoyed hunting for some old portraits in the Banqueting Hall and they admired the spectacular and valuable trio of 17th century chandeliers in there. We had the fun of re-enacting a trial in the Oak Court - fortunately Judge Bell was lenient with the midnight thief who had been caught stealing a chicken at the Poultry Cross! We are now looking forward to going further back in time by visiting the Cathedral, Old Sarum and Stonehenge, in the coming weeks.
