Published on isbi School News dated Monday 25th of July 2011

Amanda Staveley, one the UK's top business-women, returned to her old school as guest speaker for Speech Day at Queen Margaret's School.

Old Margaretian Amanda Staveley spoke of her career journey to top financier, urging girls at QM 'to go out and live your dreams'.

The ambitious Miss Staveley attended QM from 1984 to 1989 before completing her A Levels a year early and attending Cambridge University at the age of 17. She rose to prominence running her own financial consultancy which secured the financial rescue of Barclays Bank in 2008. Amongst her most recent achievements Miss Staveley arranged the purchase of Manchester City Football club by Sheikh Mansour of Abu Dhabi.

Amanda's speech appealed to the fifty three Upper Sixth leavers with a clear inspiring message to 'attempt the impossible' and to continue the entrepreneurial spirit given to them from their education at QM.
