25% A* grades for the second year at Queen Margaret's

Published on isbi School News dated Thursday 18th of August 2011

Queen Margaret's school in Escrick is celebrating another set of exceptional A Level results. For the second year running a quarter of all entries achieved the highly sought A* Grade for which candidates must score 90% or more on their final papers. There was a 100% pass rate; with 86% of all examinations taken resulting in the award of an A*, A or B Grade.

These excellent results mean that all the QM leavers will be able to take up places in Higher Education either this Autumn or after a GAP year. Destinations include the Universities of Oxford, Cambridge, Durham and London as well as the Royal Veterinary College for courses as diverse as Classics, Economics and Management, Fine Art, Pharmacy and Veterinary Medicine.

QM's Headmaster, Dr Paul Silverwood, commented,
'At QM we encourage every girl to aim high and to exceed her own expectations and I am delighted with this year's A Level results. The high grades achieved across all subjects reflect our wish to give girls the widest possible range of opportunities as well as their own hard work and the skill and commitment of our staff. Girls from Queen Margaret's go on to be leaders in every walk of life and the 2011 leavers will be no exception. We wish them all every success for the future.'
