Year 6: Mission to Mars

Published Monday 30th of October 2017 09:51:07 AM

All Year 6 pupils have begun learning their new unit ‘Mission to Mars’. The unit’s big idea is that one day, humans may need to leave Earth and settle on another planet. The pupils began with some space training activities designed to develop their communication, discipline, adaptability and teamwork skills so that they could become astronauts. They then discussed what they already knew about Mars before developing some questions to investigate during this half term. After this, all the pupils began to discuss three major questions: 1. Why might humans need to move to Mars to live? 2. How could humans survive on Mars? 3. What would it be like to live on Mars? They researched using iPads and books and worked as teams and in pairs before discussing what they had discovered with the whole year group.
