Partial and full fee bursaries available to students from the Surrey and Greater London area for 2018/2019 academic year ACS International Schools is now offering bursaries to children aged 11 , 13 and 16 at its three UK campuses in Cobham, Egham and Hillingdon for the 2018/2019 academic year. Tim Cagney, Chief Executive, ACS International Schools commented: “This year we celebrate our 50th anniversary, and in the spirit of our founders’ legacy, in 2018 we aim to convert to charitable status. Our aim as a charitable entity is to advance education and widen access to our schools for students wishing to develop an enquiring mind, an international mind set and have a desire to make a difference. We are therefore delighted to announce a full programme of means-tested bursaries for our three UK schools.“ The bursaries are offered to students who will benefit most from an ACS education, including the world renowned International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum, but might not otherwise be able to attend the school. The financial awards will range from twenty per cent to 100 per cent of the schools’ fees, with all bursaries awarded on a means-tested basis and dependent on the student’s individual circumstance. Applications for the 2018 – 2019 academic year are now open until January 22, 2018 and can be made via the website Riya Kaur, aged 17, is currently an ACS bursary student and has this message for prospective candidates: “The thing about ACS is that it is an incredibly warm and welcoming environment. To be honest making new friends and meeting new teachers was extraordinarily easy. “I know that studying the IB has definitely taught me to be independent and to develop my own self-study skills - skills I never covered when studying for my GCSEs. And with the IB you continue to study all aspects of education which I think is much better preparation for university.” There are over eighty different nationalities represented across the ACS school community, with British families the second largest cohort. To celebrate the schools’ international ethos and inclusive values, ACS is also launching a new Global Citizens Award, which will recognise, encourage and reward young people who are making a difference to their local or international community. The award is open to children in the London, Surrey and Buckinghamshire area, with three categories for children aged nine – 11 (school years five and six) and 12 – 14 (school years seven to nine) with two prizes of £1,000 to be split equally between the winning children and their schools To enter students must describe in no more than 500 words how they are supporting the cause, challenge or charity they are championing and winners will be selected by a panel of judges including the Heads at ACS International Schools three UK campuses.
