Bedford School Upper Sixth Former, Archie Young-Lee, was delighted to be selected to play trombone in the London Schools Symphony Orchestra (LSSO) alongside other top youth musicians from London schools. The LSSO features professional conductors and soloists, and is considered one of the finest youth orchestras in the world. Archie went through a rigorous audition process in November 2017, and received the good the news in January 2018. Archie told us, “Being selected to play trombone in the London Schools Symphony Orchestra is a huge honour and an amazing opportunity. I have gained the chance to play under the baton of established conductors such as Sir Richard Armstrong and being able to play some of my favourite pieces of orchestral repertoire. On top of all of this I get the chance to play at the Barbican which is one of the world’s most renowned concert halls in the world. This is something I cannot wait to start and get involved with.”
