Celebrating outstanding IB results at ACS Hillingdon

Published Wednesday 11th of July 2018 03:56:35 PM

This week 45 ACS Hillingdon students received their final IB Diploma results, allowing them to attend world-class universities in the UK, US and across the globe. Sixteen per cent of ACS Hillingdon students were awarded 38 points or above, equivalent to 236 UCAS points. To put this into perspective, four A* grades at A Level are worth 224 UCAS points. Fifty-seven per cent of ACS Hillingdon students were awarded 32 points or above, equivalent to three A* grades at A Level. Martin Hall, Head of School at ACS Hillingdon, commented: “Our students have achieved incredible results, attained through hard work, determination and commitment. The class of 2018 has been a truly fantastic example to the school. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our students - and the teachers who have supported and challenged them throughout - for the milestones reached.” Several members of the 2018 class completed bilingual diplomas in languages including Spanish and French, which only goes to reinforce the international mindset of the IB. Many of the ACS Hillingdon leavers will be going on to study at leading higher education establishments, including University of Cambridge; University of York; University of St Andrews; University of Bath; as well as universities in Rome, Amsterdam, the United States and Canada. Taalia Morgan, IB Diploma student and 2018 ACS graduate, commented, “I have always found the IB to be an intensive programme, one that goes into great depth in the subjects that it offers. Since the IB tests not only knowledge, but also the application of knowledge, I feel that I am capable of thinking more broadly and profoundly.” ACS International Schools is now offering bursaries to children aged 11 , 13 and 16 at its three UK campuses in Cobham, Egham and Hillingdon for the 2018/2019 academic year. The bursaries are offered to students who will benefit most from an ACS education, including the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum, but might not otherwise be able to attend the school. The financial awards will range from twenty per cent to 100 per cent of the schools’ fees, with all bursaries awarded on a means-tested basis and dependent on the student’s individual circumstance.
