Norwich High celebrates 40th Anniversary of German Exchange

Students and staff at Norwich High School for Girls are celebrating a very special anniversary this academic year it is the 40th year of their German Exchange Partnership with the with The Elly-Heuβ-Knapp Gymnasium school in Germany.

This years' exchange began on Friday, 30th September. 35 children plus staff from the German school are enjoying cultural visits and family life in Norwich and the surrounding area this week. And at Norwich High a whole host of activities has been planned for German Week. On Monday 3rd October, the school celebrated German Unification Day and visitors from the German partner school led the assembly. On Tuesday there will be a German themed school lunch. Girls will be involved in the preparation of the Schwarzw�lder Kirschtorte (Black Forest Gateau)! On Wednesday German pupils will learn netball skills and English pupils will be introduced to handball - in time to be able to watch and understand this fast moving game at the Olympics in 2012. In the evening there will be a reception for the visitors and for parents and old girls of Norwich High School.

'It promises to be a really memorable week', commented Mrs Norris, Head of Modern Languages at the school. 'We are very much looking forward to sharing in this celebration of our long-standing friendship with our German visitors. We have so many happy memories of experiences shared over the years and we hope for many more to come!'
