Published Monday 10th of June 2019 01:29:10 PM

On the final week before half term, Year 6 children went on their residential to North Wales for a week of activities in the Snowdonia National Park. Having enjoyed a cooked breakfast to begin the week, the children were able to enjoy some stunning views and take a first glimpse of their wonderful surroundings, before throwing themselves into all the activities on offer. Each day the children were given opportunities to try different activities including climbing and abseiling, gorge walking, mountain biking and mountain walking. The climbing wall saw some first time climbers conquering their nerves and some more experienced climbers improving their skills on the rock face. Instructor Jack showed the children how to use the equipment correctly to keep each other safe, and have a great time. The children also took part in gorge walking, jumping into the cold water with both feet, and being kind and supportive of one another. On the final day, Year 6 were presented with an opportunity to go canoeing and paddle boarding through Llyn Padarn in Llanberis. The paddle boarding presented a challenge of balance and concentration, with the children focusing on navigating their boards carefully across the lake. The children demonstrated a spirit of adventure and shared words of encouragement with one another, causing them to grow in confidence each day. The staff were incredibly proud, not just of the effort and enthusiasm the children showed during the week, but of the outward impression the children had given of themselves and the school over the course of the week.
