Published Friday 4th of November 2011 04:11:34 PM

Congratulations to Year 5 pupil and talented actress Harley Riley (aka Harley Bird) who has been nominated for a prestigious Childrens BAFTA. Harley, aged 9, has been nominated in the Performer category for her work as the voice of Peppa in the popular childrens animated series, "Peppa Pig".

Harley has been the voice of Peppa for the last 3 and a half years and has also done a variety of other television work. This is not the first time that Harley has been recognised for her achievements, having previously played the lead role in short film "Blueberry" which won the Audience Award at the 2010 San Jose Short Film Festival.

The British Academy Children's Awards are an opportunity for BAFTA to recognise and reward excellence in Children's entertainment. In her category Harley is up against three other well known names including Daniel Roche, who plays Ben in "Outnumbered" and has been nominated for his performance in the title role of "Just William". We are all extremely proud of Harley and wish her well for the ceremony which is due to take place on Sunday 27 November at the London Hilton.

Harley is not the only member of her family to have caught the acting bug. Harleys younger sister, Olivia, who is in Year 1 at Pipers Corner, is soon to star in the new series of critically acclaimed BBC sitcom Rev, alongside actors Tom Hollander and Olivia Colman. The series is due to air later this Autumn and we are all looking forward to seeing Olivia onscreen.

Headmistress Mrs Helen Ness-Gifford said, "We are all tremendously excited and proud of Harley and will be keeping our fingers crossed for her on the night of the ceremony. It is always wonderful to see girls like Harley and Olivia develop their talents both in and out of school. At Pipers we encourage all girls to make the most of their unique talents."
